Chef Yakup had his fair share of Michelin-starred restaurants and celebrity Chef experiences. Firstly, working at Naha Restaurant in Chicago, later in Thailand. The chef was mentored by another celebrity Chef, Ian Pongtawat Chalermkittichai at Issaya Siamese Club. Chef Yakup ultimately became a celebrity himself when he starred in and won Iron Chef Thailand 2019. He appeared as one of the judges in one episode of Masterchef Thailand. Chef Yakup competed in the “The Next Iron Chef Season 1“in 2019, chosen by the whole country of Thailand one of the 15 chefs to compete to be The Next Iron chef. He ultimately won the MBM Star award for outstanding Halal business. Chef Yakup is a member of the Chef Cares group, started by Khun Marisa Chearavanont, a charity group that helps those young and unfortunate kids to get a better future in live with the help of donations and support.
Chef Yakup, who has the passion for Australian lamb, saw the opportunity to twist traditional Turkish dishes to create the quasi Mediterranean, Turkish style cuisine which integrates Halal certified products.
He owns his restaurant since 2019, named “Fat Lamb”, a Halal restaurant in the heart of the Muslim Community in Bangkok.
